Affirmation Widget for the iPhone Home and Lock Screen
Selune puts an affirmation in four places on your iPhone, changes it once an hour, and does it in the free version.

Four placements, one rotation
Selune ships a single widget with four sizes. Each one is drawn in the theme you picked in the app, edge to edge, with no chrome around the words.
Small, on the Home Screen
A one by one tile with a short affirmation on the gradient. It fits the lines that work as a glance rather than a read.
Medium, on the Home Screen
A two by one tile with room for a full sentence. This is the size to pick if you want the longer, quieter lines rather than the four word ones.
Rectangular, on the Lock Screen
The wide complication under the clock. A small label plus the affirmation, in the monochrome style iOS uses on the Lock Screen.
Inline, on the Lock Screen
The single line slot above the clock, next to the date. One sentence, no decoration, visible every time you pick the phone up.
How to add it
Home Screen
- Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen until the icons start to wobble.
- Tap the plus button in the corner to open the widget gallery.
- Search for Selune and pick it.
- Swipe between the small and the medium size, then tap Add Widget.
- Drag it where you want it and tap Done.
Lock Screen
- Touch and hold your Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
- Choose Lock Screen.
- Tap the line above the clock for the inline widget, or the widget area under the clock for the rectangular one.
- Find Selune in the list and tap it.
- Tap Done, then Done again.
Steps are for iOS 18, which is the minimum version Selune supports.
Why it changes on the hour and not on a timer
iOS does not let a widget run code whenever it likes. A widget hands the system a timeline of prepared entries and the system paints them at the times it was given. Selune builds twelve hourly entries at a time and picks each line by the absolute clock hour rather than by a counter, which has one useful consequence: two widgets built at different moments still agree on what should be showing right now. Your small widget, your medium widget and your Lock Screen line never drift apart.
If the app has never run, the widget has no snapshot to read and shows a single default line, then tries again an hour later. Opening Selune once fixes it for good.

Widget questions
How often does the Selune widget change?
Once an hour. Selune schedules twelve hourly entries ahead and picks the line by the absolute clock hour, so a small widget, a medium widget and a Lock Screen complication all show the same affirmation at the same time. iOS decides the exact instant it repaints, so the change can land a little after the hour.
Is the affirmation widget free?
Yes. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets are part of the free version of Selune. You do not need Selune Pro to put an affirmation on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.
My widget shows the same line or a default line. What now?
Open Selune once. The widget renders from a snapshot the app writes into a shared container, so a freshly installed widget has nothing to read until the app has run at least once. After that the rotation advances by itself.
